Default I'm new, and i have a few questions.

Earlier today, i purchased a copy of platinum Guild Wars, which contains the original, and Eyes on the North. Now i have a few questiong regarding this:

1. If and what are the benefits of buying Factions and Nightfall.

2. Im in Australia right now, and i bought it because it was half off in EB games, and i have wanted to buy it. I live in Canada, will i have a problem with regional restrictions of any kind?

Thank you in advance.

1. More character slots, new storyline, more skills, more professions to choose from.

1)The advantages of other campaigns
  • New classess ~ Ritualist & Assassin (factions) ~ Paragon & Dervish (nightfall)
    Access to Alliance Battles (factions)
    Heroes (nightfall)
More character slots (2 per campaign)
Generally more skills, weapons, armor and explorable areas for your characters

2) You shouldn't have much of an issue with regional restrictions, as you can switch to different country's districts. I believe (don't quote me on it though) that you can also set your "home" region at some point.

1 - Nightfall gives you access to more heroes, a lot more missions and the sunspear/lightbringer title track and skills. It also includes Kamadan which is the main trading hub of Guildwars these days. You also have access to the Paragon and Dervish Character Class

Factions gives you alliance battles, fort aspenwood etc. It also gives you access to the Kurzick/Luxon title track and skills. You also have access to the Assassin and Ritualist Character class.

Of course this is aside from more skills, armour and weapon skins and a whole lot of hours of enjoyment.

2 - There are no problems in game play. Guildwars servers used to be seperated into EU and US servers (Asian servers aside) which meant that you could only travel to one or the other a maximum of 5 times, however you can now travel between them at will. Australia is oddly considered 'European' as far as server choice goes.

You may have some issues if you decide to purchase anything via the online store and you could be charged in a currency other than the Canadian Dollar. However I've heard tell that this can be resolved by a quick contact with Support.

Enjoy GW.

Another benefit of adding Factions and Nightfall that hasn't been mentioned yet... Adding these to your account will also increase the capacity of your Xunlai storage vault in-game (up to a maximum of 4 storage tabs, not including crafting material storage).

In addition to the other perks mentioned above, Factions gives your Prophecies character easy access to max armor.

Actually... I would mail a letter to Anet and warn them when you are leaving Australia and heading back to Canada. If the IP range jumps they may think that you bought, stole, or hacked an account (which is illegal). As a result, they may ban you. Send them a little heads up letter in advance, just to safeguard yourself.

btw, factions unlocks the AB arenas and it unlocks the ability to own a town. Not owning Factions and Nightfall keeps you away from hating Shiro! Inside joke... and I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad one!

It may be a good idea just in case, but I strongly doubt Anet is paying that much attention. They'd probably only look into IPs so carefully if you sent in complaints that your account had been stolen or something.

Nightfall and Factions are both very good games in their own respects they both have in depth storylines and only help to enhance the rest of the franchize they both have their downsides aswell but I feel the good parts of the game are more than enough to consider purchasing.

As for the regional restrictions I went from a Florida IP to a New York and back again and never had any problems but Canada and Australia is a big jump but the question is why would someone from Canada steal an Australian's Guild Wars, sounds a tad crazy but maybe the others are right send Anet a letter and make sure they don't ban you.

Sadly, I have seen anet ban an account that passed another account 100k for free. That gets me nervous, especially when you love the game as much as I do. I just call it a means of safeguarding ourselves.

you wont have a problem with changing servers.
you would want to have all campaigns to take advantage of all the content that is in the game......skills, greens, heroes....ect. not to mention the good storylines, as well as what is stated above, there is the skills that can only be obtained in the other campaigns. sandstorm, searing flames, savanna heat, broadhead arrow, o and ray of judgment will be your friend when it comes to shards of orr.
